Documents Required for the Active Duty Military Application

These are required documents for this property. Please review the list as you are preparing to submit your application.

STEP 1: Complete the MHO Application

When you are ready to apply with Cherry Point Family Housing, you must first complete a Military Housing Office (MHO) application. You can contact the MHO by phone at (252) 466-2732 or email at chpt.fac.housing.smb@usmc.mil. Visit the following website for instructions on how to submit the MHO application: www.cherrypoint.marines.mil/Offices/Housing/Military-Housing-Office

You will need to complete the following forms from the Military Housing Office:

  • DD1746: Application for Assignment to Housing
  • Registered Sex Offender Disclosure
  • Pet Registration Addendum
  • Statements of Understanding

Please include your personal email address on the application to avoid communication issues with your.mil account.

Additional documents needed for MHO application:

  • A copy of your PCS Orders.
  • Any other applicable supporting document listed on the application checklist (page 1 of the housing application).

STEP 2: Begin the HMC Application

After your MHO application is approved, you will receive a welcome email from a Hunt Staff member to the email address provided on your application. Click the link provided to begin your Hunt Military Communities application.

STEP 3: Gather the Documents Needed & Submit Your HMC Application

  • All applicants must provide proof of assignment date with Official Orders or Orders of Intent.
  • All applicants must present a Current Leave Earning Statement (LES) to confirm current rank.
  • All applicants must provide a DEERS document, such as DD1172, NAV MAC 10922, Page 2, etc.
    • *If all dependents are not listed on the DEERS document, you must provide a marriage or birth certificate.
  • If you have pets, you must provide all of the following:
    • Shot records of each pet
    • Photo of each pet
  • If you are filing the information on behalf of your active-duty spouse, you need a power of attorney (POA).
  • If you are dual-military, you must provide both orders. BOTH active duty applicants must complete applications and list the spouse in the Dual Active Spouse section on the HMC application.

STEP 4: Waitlist Placement and Move-In Requirements

After both the MHO and Hunt have approved your applications, you will be added to the appropriate waitlist. Your placement on the waitlist will be determined by your rank and bedroom entitlement as specified by MHO. You will receive a confirmation once you have been successfully added to the waitlist.

Documents Required for the All Other Applicants

These are required documents for this property. Please review the list as you are preparing to submit your application.

STEP 1: Gather the Documents Needed for Your Application

  • All applicants must show proof of income through a pay stub showing two months of income equal to at least 2.5x the market rent (not reduced or promotional rent). If applicable, the monthly rent qualifier for a guarantor is 5x the market rent. Please note that an income qualifier is based on gross monthly income (excluding commissions, tips, child support, or overtime).
  • If you are military affiliated, you must complete a DD1746 and sign a Privacy Act Release Form to obtain a referral from the Military Housing Office. To obtain these forms, please reach out to your leasing agent.
  • If you are military affiliated, proof of Military/DoD affiliation is required.
  • If you have pets, you must provide all of the following:
    • Shot records of each pet
    • Photo of each pet
  • A state-issued ID for every person in the household who is 18 or older.
  • If you have a dependent over the age of 18 who will be residing in the home, you must provide your most recent tax return.

STEP 2: Complete the HMC Application

After gathering the required documents, complete the HMC application by clicking apply now.

  • Download, complete, and sign the screening authorization form for credit and criminal screening. It must be signed by all parties over the age of 18 and submitted in your application.
  • Download and review the application rental criteria. Enter your name and email address in the designated fields to access the application portal. You will need to upload this document in your application.

STEP 3: After Submitting Your Application

After submitting the application, the Hunt team will review it. After reviewing for accuracy, the Hunt team will send you a payment link to pay the application fee and complete your application. If you are approved, you will receive an email confirming that your Hunt Military Communities application has been approved, along with instructions for the next steps.

STEP 4: Waitlist Placement and Move-In Requirements

After your application is approved, the Hunt team will contact you to discuss housing options based on your affiliation and place you on the appropriate waitlist. If your "Need Housing By" date is more than 30-60 days away, you will be added to the Waterfall (Other Eligible Tenant) Waitlist until a home is offered. You will receive confirmation once you have been added to the waitlist.

Please note that if you remain on the waitlist for more than 60 days, a new credit and criminal background check will be required.
